Hi guys!! All of the previous posts are from last years students, so just continue with this chain!
On Wednesday, November 14th, it was my second to last time volunteering at support circles. This was infamous night of the eating competition i had with Jafari, an eleven year old boy who challenged me to an eating contest, to give a little context this was the "thanks giving celebration night where people brought in a LOT of thanksgiving food. The eating contest ended up with both of us having stomach aches and food all over our faces, but through all of this we high-fived and man-spread in our chairs. Since it was the thanksgiving night, everyone stayed together the entire time.
On my sixth time volunteering, Wednesday November 7th, Colletta returned to Support Circles. I walked in and she gave me a hug and i asked her, "Colletta! Where have you been? I haven't seen you in two weeks, what happened?" She then said "I don't know" and started laughing. So we then decided to draw. Since we could not go outside due to the weather, Colletta and i decided to playa game of hide and seek, which ended up with her getting stuck under a little kid table in one of the play rooms. All in all, it was a really fun and relaxing way to spend my evening.
On Wednesday October 24th, my fifth time volunteering, it was one of the most, if not the most challenging weeks of volunteering. This was the week that I had to break up a fist fight between four eleven and ten year old boys. Since the weather had started getting chilly, we decided to have the kids stay inside, in the play rooms of the basement in the building. That night the four boys i mentioned earlier were playing each other in a game of pool when an argument broke out about who won a game of pool, then the boys started shoving each other. So, i stepped in and broke it up.
On Wednesday, October 17th, which was my fifth time working at Support Circles, we were again under-staffed in terms of student volunteers, which meant that I would again have to work with the crazy babies. Fortunately, this week there was not an especially large amount of families that came, which meant that i wouldn't have to care for as many babies this time. This week the babies were surprisingly calm and relaxed and none of them threw a fit or EVEN CRIED! This week was a more easy and relaxing week at Support Circles, which I definitely did not mind.
